Tiwatope Savage-Balogun better known by her stage name Tiwa Savage is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, performer, actress and humanitarian born on 5 February 1980 in Ikeja, Lagos. She is mother to son, Jamal.
She recently signed with RocNation Music, she is currently signed to Sony/ATV Music Publishing as a songwriter and signed a recording contract in 2012 with Mavin Records. She co-wrote the track “Collard Greens & Cornbread” off Fantasia Barrino’s Grammy-nominated album, Back to Me.
Her debut studio album, Once Upon a Time , was released on 3 July 2013. It was supported by the singles “Kele Kele Love”, “Love Me (3x)”, “Without My Heart”, “Ife Wa Gbona”, “Folarin”, “Olorun Mi” and ” Eminado”. Savage’s second studio album, R.E.D , was released on 19 December 2015. It produced the singles “My Darlin'”, “African Waist” and “If I Start To Talk”. Savage sings in English and Yoruba.
As a singer, her achievements include one MTV Africa Music Award, two The Headies Awards, one Channel O Music Video Award, one Nigeria Music Video Award, and two City People Entertainment Awards, among others.
Savage has been involved in many youth empowerment and breast cancer screening projects across Nigeria. Savage helped raise money for an organisation that builds schools in her hometown.
In July 2013, Savage signed an endorsement deal with MTN Nigeria reportedly worth ₦30 million. She also signed endorsement deals with Pepsi, Forte Oil, Pampers and Maggi.
Tiwa’s fashion style is mostly an eclectic mix of African traditional dresses and Western wear. She prefers casual outfits usually a polo and jeans, shirt dresses and heels or boots. She is a red carpet stunner and her long black hair left loose around her shoulders is a favorite. She mixes heavy jewelry with simple classic ones.
She is not only considered one of the most beautiful women in the Nigerian Entertainment industry but also one of the best and strongest female voices in modern African music.
