Vogue Italia Backlash

The May 2018 issue of Vogue Italia featuring supermodel, Gigi Hadid left a lot of fans unimpressed with the cover, with some fans calling for a boycott of the magazine. Why? Blackface and heavy editing.

The May cover features a male and female model intertwined in an embrace for the camera. The male model is Justin Martin and the female model is Gigi Hadid, who looks utterly unrecognizable except for her brows 🐒.

Gigi was so heavily tanned and edited according to claims by fans, that it took the name on the cover to reveal it was her.
Some fans pointed out that it wasn’t Gigi’s first time of causing controversy. Back in 2015 and 2017, Gigi was accused of cultural appropriation for her Vogue Italia cover and for Vogue Arabia respectively.

I agree with the comments too, why make Bella so unrecognizable or turn her to someone else if you wanted her on your cover?
