We have known the past dates for the most iconic lingerie fashion show ever, through the buzz and excitement from chosen Angels. The bras strung with layers of Swarovski crystals and diamonds, the extravagant Angel wings, top celebrity musical performances and wind-blown perfectly curled hair has been among the highlights of Victoria’s Secret annual fashion show.
This year however, there are reports that things are going to change from now onwards.
According to Bussiness of Fashion, the iconic lingerie brand is having a rethink and will be pulling the fashion show off TV from 2019. In the words of Les Wexner, founder of Victoria’s Secret parent company L Brands Inc., “We must evolve and change to grow… In 2019 and beyond, we are focusing on developing exciting and dynamic content and a new kind of event.”
Reports cite the growing criticism of the fashion show’s lack of diversity, the promotion of models of a certain body type and intense competition from other lingerie brands (size) as plausible causes for pulling the show.
